AIKEN, SC (WAGT/WRDW) -- A five-hour standoff with Aiken County deputies ended early Wednesday morning with the arrest of a man now charged with kidnapping and attempted murder.

Carlos Allen was taken into custody by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a home on Hazel Drive just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday for a wellness check after family members told investigators a woman, identified as Jennifer Ramirez, was being held against her will at the residence.

When they arrived, deputies say they found Ramirez hiding in the woods with a gunshot wound to her leg. She was taken to a nearby hospital and was last listed in stable condition.

Allen, meanwhile, barricaded himself inside the home, according to deputies.

Five hours later, Allen was taken into custody by the Aiken County SWAT Team.

Aiken County investigators say the investigation into this incident is ongoing.
