NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Two people were sent to a local hospital after witnesses tell News 12 they saw two cars driving by before shots were fired.

North Augusta Public Safety tells us they are now investigating this incident as a drive-by shooting. The incident happened at Pershing and Crystal Lake Drive in North Augusta.

Officers say the gunmen inside the two cars were trying to shoot at each other. One of those cars crashed into a home on Pershing Drive. No one inside the residence was injured.

One official says that same home was sprayed with bullets "by coincidence."

There were three people in the car that crashed. Two of them were taken to a hospital while one was taken to the Department of Public Safety for questioning. That person has since been let go without being charged.

The second vehicle, and the people inside it, remain on the loose.
