AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Coreon Jackson was 12 years old when he admitted to killing a 65-year-old man.

He missed being charged as an adult by one year.

According to law, no juvenile can face a life sentence not even for a murder charge.

For the neighbor of the kidnapped victim, this is unsettling news.

"Right through this neighborhood, we are all senior citizens. If that can happen to one of us, it could happen to any of us," says Julia Davis.

A quiet neighborhood was shaken up after investigators say Coreon Jackson targeted one of their own.

"Senior citizens seem to be thought of as an easy target," Davis says.

A warrant states Julia Davis' 77-year-old neighbor was walking to her front door when Jackson approached her demanding money.

They say he kidnapped her at gunpoint taking her to an ATM. That same night investigators say he robbed a Dollar General just down the street.

"The fact that this is a person who unfortunately has had a life of crime, since being a child, why is he on the street,” Davis questions.

Jackson has spent most of his life at the YDC in Augusta convicted of murdering an elderly man when he was only 12.

"As a child, I can only imagine that being in a facility he's only learning from others.”

But YDC could only keep Jackson in custody until he hit 21 when he was released back onto the streets.

"This time it was robbery, next time will it be murder again? now it is frightening," says Davis.

Jackson is back in handcuffs facing 4 felony charges. The neighborhood is glad to see him back in custody.

"Oh absolutely! But how long are they going to keep him? That's the issue."
