AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Unopened presents and pictures left behind.
"We had gifts to exchange to each other," Ronald Brown Sr., the victim's father said. "The gifts are still there. Every time you look at the gifts and his gifts and they're not open it's touching."
A reminder of a life taken out of the blue.
"At the time of the incident I was home sleeping and my daughter and son woke me up and said they got a call that said something had happened in the neighborhood."
It happened one week ago. 28-year-old Ronald Brown was shot on Gibralter Drive. Family says he was walking back from the grocery store with bags in his hand.
"When we found out he was no longer with us it was tragic. Just like any other incident. You lost a family member and it really hurts when you really find out its senseless violence. There's no need for violence"
Witnesses told investigators they saw two people arguing in the street. Brown was shot at least two times and then the suspect fled.
"He, like every other 28 year old, was trying to find his place in life and it just ended all of the sudden."
A week later, the suspect is still on the run. A family is left broken and saying goodbye to a son, a brother and a friend.
"He was loving, he was kind, he was honest and he was fair."
For them, goodbye isn't closure.
"Please, please find the killer. Find the man who has done this and bring this to a closure."
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is investigating the case as a murder and the family wants answers.
"They took an innocent life and when you do something like that, you have to be held responsible for that."
The incident report is still not complete, so the family is hoping that may fill in some of the dots. They're asking anyone who knows anything to please come forward.
