AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- One man is behind bars after a shooting in downtown Augusta early Saturday morning.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 2:06 a.m. on the 700 Block of Broad Street.

Investigators say Ashton Blake Randolph, 21, approached James Wright III, 32, and asked Wright if he would sell him marijuana. Wright reportedly told Randolph he did not have any drugs.

Deputies say Randolph then shot Wright two times and tried to run off. Deputies patrolling in the downtown area arrested Randolph when they spotted him running away.

Officials say Wright was taken to Augusta University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Randolph is charged with aggravated assault and weapons charges.
