Deputies: Man wearing orange construction vest robbed Wells Fargo on Washington Road

MARTINEZ, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Officials with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office are currently on the hunt for a bank robbery suspect.

Deputies say that bank robbery happened Tuesday morning just before noon at the Wells Fargo bank branch on Washington Road.

News 12 is told the suspect was holding a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the teller. He was wearing a black T-shirt wrapped around part of his face, blue jeans, tennis shoes, a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, and an orange construction vest.

The sheriff's office says the suspect is a black man between age 35 and 45, about 5'11" tall and between 140 and 160 pounds.

The man ran from the building through the parking lot. He was traveling south.
