Deadly shooting in Denmark, victim identified as Denmark Tech student

DENMARK, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT)-- Denmark Technical College is mourning the death of a student who was shot and killed on Saturday morning off-campus. SLED is investigating.

The victim in the shooting is identified as Jordan Parson. He was a first year Associate in Science major. According to Denmark Tech, Parson was from Homestead, Florida.

DTC released in a statement that the school is deeply saddened.

"Mr. Parson was fatally wounded this morning near downtown Denmark, SC. His alleged assailant is still unknown. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Denmark Police Department. The Denmark Technical College family and local clergy are available to assist students, faculty, and staff. We invite your thoughts and prayers for the Parson family during this difficult time."

Details of the shooting are limited right now. News 12 has reached out to SLED officials for additional information.
