AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – As time keeps ticking crews are working non-stop making sure their to-do list is shorter than the number of days left until July 10th 2018.

The idea of completing a building of this complexity in that short amount of time -- it just doesn't happen,” said Doug Lewis, Board of Director Chairman for Georgia Technology Authority.

New South Construction is making sure it does. The progress from a few weeks ago to today shows how fast it's happening.

“I've never seen this in my career it's just amazing,” he said.

You can already see the shape of the 340 seat auditorium. On the bottom floor, a cyber range not just for private sector companies. But students here or anywhere in the state. The second floor filled with classroom space.

“The third floor of the building we move from classrooms, we're in the lab space where they're actually working, touching the technology that they would be using, said Calvin Rhodes, Director for the Georgia Technology Authority.

The higher up you go, the tighter the security. The fourth floor will be the home of the GBI’s first cybercrime unit and the Georgia National Guard. At the very top, private sector space. Much more of that is going into the second building which will start construction right next door in less than a month.

“That building needs to go up faster than this building so it has an opening date of the end of December,” said Rhodes.

“I just don't think anybody knows where this is going to end,” said Lewis.

If history repeats itself there's a good chance it won't end here.
