COLUMBIA COUNTY, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- We've learned the name of a Columbia County daycare worker fired for violating a corporal punishment policy.

According to Columbia County officials, Jasmine Ashley is charged with simple battery and cruelty to children.

The incident happened Thursday after staff at Appletree Academy II on Fury's Ferry Road looked back at surveillance footage of one of the classrooms. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t said what exactly the daycare worker is accused of doing, but the daycare owner told us it was against the “corporal punishment policy.”

Ashley is being held in Columbia County on a $13,000 bond.
