COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT)-- A Deputy Jailer was arrested after Columbia County Sheriff's Office says the jailer cashed the same paycheck twice.

On Tuesday, Deputy TiQuita Miles allegedly did a mobile deposit of her check, then went later to cash it in. When the sheriff's office found out, they opened an investigation. Miles was fired and charged with one felony count of Theft by Taking on Friday.

Miles' bond is set at $5,200.

The 28-year-old deputy was employed with the sheriff's office since September 2017.

"Because of Miles's position in law enforcement and the public trust bestowed upon her, to say that we are disappointed is an understatement," CCSO said in a press release. "As we've demonstrated in the past, we enforce the law no matter who is involved." Adding in part, "To have an officer involved in such shameful activity is not only a violation of the law and the public's trust, but a complete dishonor to this agency and the deputies who uphold the integrity and honor that goes along with the badge."
