(CNN) -- The Texas Longhorns mascot "Bevo" set the tone early, charging at the Bulldogs mascot "Uga" pre-game, and Sam Ehlinger followed suit.

The Texas native Ehlinger ran for 64 yards and three touchdowns on the way to a 28-21 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the game.

With his 14th, 15th, and 16th rushing touchdowns of the season, Ehlinger broke the Texas school record for rushing downs in a season by a quarterback, surpassing Vince Young and Donnie Wigginton.

The Longhorns finish the season, with a 10-4 record, their first 10-win season since 2009.

The final score was 28-21.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- On a busy street corner in downtown Augusta, we're asking the tough questions. Who will win the Sugar Bowl and by how much?

Georgia fan David Knight and Lester Hankerson approached the question will little hesitation.

Celia: “Read the sign and then answer the questions.”
David Knight: “Alright, Georgia vs Texas, who will win?”

In this town, it’s an easy question with an easier answer.

Lester Hankerson: “Georiga vs Texas who gonna win? Georiga!”

For the battle in The Big Easy.

“Georiga vs Texas who will win? Final score. Who will win, WOOF, WOOF, WOOF! The BullDawwwggss,” Darrell Williams exclaims.

Even from 613 miles away, loyalty to their Dawgs knows no distance.

"We're the Bulldogs...we're winners!"

Winners and to these fans, winners in a big way.

“It'll be a blowout. Like, 40 to nothing, something like that,” says Bulldawg fan, Maddie Hedlow.

“Ummmmmm, 56 to 12.”

Meanwhile, some fans still not over the heartbreak almost a year later.

"I was really sad last year when we didn't win the national championship...I thought we had it,” says Harrison Bonham.

A lot of people did, so for now, they’ll have to keep waiting and settle for a victory as sweet as sugar.

It wasn’t a surprise, after interviewing several people no one believes Texas will win. You know what they say, you can’t spell sugar without UGA.
