AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A balloon release and funeral have been planned for a 2-year-old Augusta girl killed by her mother's boyfriend after an argument.
A little girl Ja’Ziah Pollard was shot and killed Wednesday, weeks after she celebrated her second birthday. The man accused of shooting her is now behind bars.
Ja’Ziah's mom is now speaking out about that night.
There are no words to adequately describe the depth of this mother's pain. Pictures show a twinkle in her eyes and a little mischievous grin on her face. She was only two years old but Ja’Ziah pollard's personality as big as her smile and her personality captured the hearts of everyone around her.
"She be there dancing and singing that’s the last thing, that’s the last thing she did," said Jackie Ingram, Ja'Ziah’s mom.
Jackie Ingram hasn't slept in days.
"I just keep replaying back over and over her laying on the floor," said Ingram.
Investigators say Ingram and her boyfriend Marquie Gunter got into an argument. They say Gunter pulled out a gun and started shooting towards her home. Ja'Ziah was inside with her two brothers and sister when investigators say a bullet hit and killed her.
"I want my baby, I want her back," said Ingram
Ingram cries now but will soon dry her eyes.
"I try to stay strong as I can but it’s really really hard," said Ingram.
Just ten days before she lost her daughter, she gave birth to a son, Marquie Gunter's son. To add to this nightmare, Ingram says she didn't know Gunter was convicted of child molestation until she saw it on News 12. She also says she didn't know he had a gun. The pain is very raw but this mother wants people to remember her little girl.
A balloon release vigil will be held in her honor on Friday, April 26th at 7:00 p.m. at Meadowbrook Park, in Augusta. She will be laid to rest the following Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Kinsey and Walton Funeral Home.
