AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff's Office have arrested a man who they say shot at a driver and passenger on the side of the road.

It happened around 4:00 a.m. Monday on Windsor Spring Road.

The victim says 22-year-old Dominique Nathanial Cody was following his vehicle in a Jeep Patriot.

According to an incident report, as the victim turned onto Willis Foreman Road, Cody continued to follow him while driving aggressively, trying to pass him.

The driver says he pulled over before the railroad tracks, and Cody pulled over as well, parking behind him. That's when he says Cody began firing shots at his car.

A bullet went through the back of the car and struck a passenger in the victim's car in both legs. Then Cody got back into his car and drove away.

The driver attempted to follow the Jeep to get a license plate number while calling 911.

A deputy was able to catch up to the Jeep. Cody parked his SUV then ran from the deputy before being apprehended and arrested.

Cody faces one aggravated assault charge, and one criminal trespass charge.
