UPDATE | Coroner identifies remains as man missing five years

HEPHZIBAH, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Richmond County coroner has identified the human remains found on McDade Road back in April.

Coroner Mark Bowen said GBI said the remains are that of Jerry Dwayne Isenhower.

 

Mr. Isenhower was reported missing in 2013.

GBI identified Mr. Isenhower through his dental records.

The cause of death is still undergoing investigation.

HEPHZIBAH, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- News 12 is learning more about the human remains found in Hephzibah on April 4th.

Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen says the body was very decomposed at the time it was recovered, and only bones remained.

Bowen tells News 12 identification and cause of death could take months.

HEPHZIBAH, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Richmond County Sheriff's office is investigating after human remains were found in a wooded area in Hephzibah.

The remains were found Wednesday just before 5:00 p.m. on the 1900 block of McDade Road.

The sheriff's office says the remains will be sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy and identification.

The investigation is in its early stages.
