ATLANTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Atlanta Gas Light will build a Metro Region Business Center in DeKalb County.
Atlanta Gas Light broke ground on its new metro region business center, as, DeKalb County government representatives were in attendance for the Aug. 18 ceremony, which was held on the grounds of the future facility, according to a press release.
The 51,000 square-foot building will consist of offices and warehouse space. The eight-acre site also is planned to house fleet operations, including a private access compressed natural gas station to service Atlanta Gas Light vehicles.
The development of the metro business center, located at 2505 Brannen Road, Atlanta, GA, will assist Atlanta Gas Light in continuing to meet its commitments to deliver clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to its customers, neighbors and communities, according to a press release.
“As demand for energy continues, our customers deserve the same level of excellence in natural gas service they have always depended on,” Bryan Batson, president of Atlanta Gas Light said in a press release. “This facility will offer us a centralized operations location to continue to meet the needs of our growing metro Atlanta service area. The construction of this facility is also an opportunity to increase our investment in DeKalb County, a community where we live and serve.”
“DeKalb County’s partnership with Atlanta Gas Light continues to positively benefit our region,” said DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond. “The new metro business center will boost the county’s economic development objectives by providing new employment opportunities and increasing access to energy services.”
“This is an exciting time for District 3,”said DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson. “This investment by Atlanta Gas Light will go a long way for economic revival of the district. This is the beginning of many corporate partnerships that we are leveraging across the county.”
What's more, Atlanta Gas Light is partnering with architectural firm Goode Van Slyke to design the business center. The construction of the new facility is scheduled for completion by December 2018, confirmed in a press release.
