At least one dead after I-20 accident involving 18-wheeler

1:40 p.m.

McDUFFIE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- We're learning what caused a deadly accident on I-20 Thursday morning.

According to Georgia State Patrol, a 2016 Acrua was driving in the left lane on I-20 when the driver suddenly moved into the right lane, hitting the back of the 18-wheeler.

The driver of the Acura died at the scene, and three children that were in the car were taken to the hospital.

The identity of the driver has not yet been released.


12:25 p.m.

McDUFFIE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Both eastbound lanes of I-20 are blocked near mile marker 175, as the crash scene is cleared.

McDUFFIE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- At least one person is dead following a crash on I-20 eastbound.

The crash happened at mile marker 175 Thursday morning.

Georgia State Patrol says a tractor trailer and a car were involved in the crash.

A witness at the scene says two people were seen being rescued from the car, but we have not heard that from crews on the scene.
