COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- An Aiken is $250,000 richer from a scratch off ticket.
The man, not identified for safety reasons, bought three lottery tickets at the Greg's Gas Plus on Richland Avenue in Aiken. He won $15 on the first ticket, nothing on the second, and the last one paid off his house.
The man told lottery officials, “I scraped off a $250,000 win and I couldn’t believe it.”
Lottery officials say he called his wife over to show her the "Cash Bonanza" ticket. They called their neighbor over for a second opinion. Then they called their accountant to let him know they won a quarter-of-a-million dollars.
“We’ve had nothing but bad luck lately,” the winner said. “Our luck has changed.”
According to the South Carolina Education Lottery, three top prizes of $250,000 remain in the $10 Cash Bonanza game. The odds of winning $250,000 are 1 in 660,000.
