UPDATE | One person taken to hospital after accident on I-20 in Aiken County

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The South Carolina Highway Patrol says one person was taken to the hospital after an accident on I-20 eastbound in Aiken County.

Troopers say a Mercedes sedan ran into the back of a utility trailer being pulled by a pickup truck. They say both vehicles went into the median and the trailer separated from the pickup and continued across the eastbound lanes and came to a stop on the shoulder.

According to troopers, the driver of the Mercedes was taken to Augusta University Medical Center. No word on their condition.

Troopers also say charges are possible pending the outcome of the investigation.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Crews were called out to an accident with injuries on I-20 eastbound near Edgefield Highway in Aiken County.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol the accident happened before 5:00 am.

Our crew on the scene says at least two cars are involved. Both cars ended up in the median and traffic was slowed down near the accident scene.
