UPDATE | All lanes open on I-20E in McDuffie Co. after crash, one in critical condition

4:15 p.m.

MCDUFFIE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Both lanes of I-20 eastbound near MM172 were closed causing major delays for motorists on Wednesday.

Reports state that a black Chevrolet Impala, driven by Darwin Montgomery, exited the left side of the roadway and entered the grass median. The Impala began to spin and overturned multiple times and stopped in the eastbound lane where it was struck by a tractor-trailer.

Durng the accident, Montgomery was thrown from the vehicle. He was transported to the medical center by McDuffie County EMS and has been listed in critical condition.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported to the hospital by Gold Cross EMS. The severity of the driver's injuries was not listed at this time.

Montgomery was cited for Failure to Maintain Lane, No Seatbelt, Driving While Unlicensed, and DUI.

The crash is still under investigation.

MCDUFFIE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- According to GA 511, an accident on I-20 east near mile marker 172 (Thomson/Washington exit) is blocking all lanes.

They say the accident involves one tractor-trailer and one vehicle.

According to the GA 511 website, the expected clear time is 11:00 am.
