BEECH ISLAND, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Firefighters are wrapping up at the scene of a vacant home fire on Loop Drive in the John's Town section of Beech Island, just outside of Bath.

According to Lt. Russell Smith with the Midland Valley Fire Department, there was nobody inside when investigators arrived. The call came in around 12:10 a.m., and when investigators arrived at the scene there was a "pretty good" fire going due to the construction of the home.

Firefighters battled the flames and hot spots for nearly 4 hours, and the home was completely destroyed. Midland Valley, Langley, Belvedere, and Beech Island Fire Departments all responded to the scene, with Graniteville Fire Department on standby.

Aiken County Sheriff's Office is investigating the fire because the home is vacant.
