AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Two people died after a two-vehicle head-on crash this morning in Aiken County.

The crash occurred around 6:20 a.m. on Williston Road near Independent Boulevard a little more than 7 miles south of North Augusta, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

It happened when an eastbound 2010 Chevrolet Impala driven by Dabron Fulton, 19, of Wrens, Ga., went left of center and hit a westbound 2005 Ford Excursion head-on, according to authorities.

The Excursion, driven by Jessie Kent, 46, of New Ellenton, S.C., left the roadway and went down an embankment, the patrol reported.

Firefighters with the Silver Bluff Fire Department said the single occupant of each vehicle was trapped.

With help from the New Ellenton Fire Department and Aiken County emergency medical crews, both drivers were extricated.

Fulton was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:36 a.m., according to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.

Kent was transported to Augusta University Medical Center and pronounced dead at the hospital at 8:36 a.m., according to Ables.

Kent was not wearing a seat belt, but Fulton was, according to the patrol.

Both victims died of multiple traumatic injuries, Ables reported. Toxicology results are pending.

The patrol is conducting an investigation of the crash.
