The African-American Experience: African Origins

Thursday, Oct. 31, 2019

(WRDW/WAGT) -- The African-American Experience: African Origins education event is coming to our area. Enslaved men and women of African descent found many ways to keep their culture and heritage alive during their captivity. Names and naming practices, language, medical knowledge, culinary traditions, stories and more were kept alive and passed down to future generations.

Learn about the difficult journey from freedom to slavery, from Africa to America, through the stories of men like Henry Slow of Redcliffe. It's happening at the Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site on November 9th.
