Matt is thrilled to be a part of the News 12 NBC 26 team and can’t wait to be able to share your stories with the CSRA community. He is incredibly excited to get out and really get to know his new home.
Matt joined the team as a multimedia journalist in June of 2017. He was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia, right outside of Washington, D.C. Living in the D.C. metro area, the local news was always also the national news, so you could say that he’s accustomed to having stories unfold right in his backyard.
Going to school up north, Matt is a graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University, where he majored in Broadcast and Digital Journalism with a minor in European History. At Syracuse, he learned that it’s never a good idea to tell a story using the line “you just had to be there,” and that mantra has stuck with him ever since. Matt is a huge Syracuse basketball fan and has played basketball his entire life, including at the high school level. Although he’ll always bleed orange, he’s thankful that reporting in the snow and ice is a thing of the past.
Also an avid golfer, Matt is incredibly excited about the Masters, and can’t believe that his career has taken him to the home of the best course in the country. Personally, his short game needs some work, but he’s temporarily traded in the clubs for a camera and a microphone—an exchange worth making!
In his free time, Matt enjoys playing and watching sports. He’s always looking for recommendations for the best food in town and is a seafood fanatic.
More importantly, though, he’s also looking to tell your story. Please share your tips, ideas, and information with him at firstname.lastname@example.org. He’s on your side.
