Nick Proto joined the WRDW team as a multimedia journalist in June of 2019, and he's thrilled to start his journalistic career.
Born and raised outside of Philadelphia, Nick moved down south for school. He went to the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks) where he studied broadcast journalism with a minor in sports management.
At South Carolina, Nick combined his love of sports and story telling at Capital City Sports, the sports division of Student Gamecock Television. That's where Nick fell in love with news and telling stories, and knew this was the career he wanted to pursue.
Nick's first introduction to a news room came during the fall of his junior year at WLTX in Columbia. There, he covered high school football games for the Friday Night Blitz segment of the show.
During his senior year, Nick worked with Carolina News, the campus news station. There, he got to experience the life of a multimedia journalist, getting everything in order for the daily show. While overwhelming at times, it really solidified Nick's love for the industry and desire to continue this as a career.
When he's not at work, Nick is either watching his favorite shows for the millionth time, or keeping up with the sports buzz. An avid New York sports fan, Nick is always keeping tabs on his teams even from 700 miles away.
Feel free to reach out if there's a story that you want told.
