Amid fog, 3-car crash blocks Wrightsboro Road for a time
GROVETOWN, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Wrightsboro Road was shut down in both directions Thursday morning after a multiple-car crash with possible injuries as fog blanketed the region.
The three-car T-bone crash was reported at 6:27 a.m. at Wrightsboro and Louisville Road west of Grovetown and near Euchee Creek Elementary School.
Wrightsboro was closed between Intermediate Road and Hamilton Road, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Columbia County dispatchers confirmed that emergency medical services were notified, indicating the potential for injuries.
Crews were still at the scene and the road was still blocked at 7:43 a.m., but the road had reopened by 8 a.m. and the last car was being towed away.
The crash occurred as heavy fog covered the area, limiting visibility for drivers.
The fog won’t be lifting anytime soon. A dense-fog advisory has been issued until 10 a.m., followed by mostly cloudy skies through most of the day.
