AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Temperatures will stay mild this morning in the low to mid-70s with partly sunny skies. This afternoon is looking to be hot and humid with highs reaching the low 90s and the heat index into the upper 90s. Winds will be steady out of the southwest between 5-12 mph. Skies will be partly cloudy during the day. Isolated storms will be possible in the afternoon. Severe weather is not expected. Rain could be heavy at times, but the flood threat looks low.
Lows early Friday will be back down near 70 with partly cloudy skies around sunrise. A front will be approaching the region Friday bringing better ingredients to see scattered showers and storms in the afternoon. Heavy rain and lightning will be the main threat with storms. Winds will be steady out of the west-southwest between 10-15 mph.
Showers and storms will remain possible during the day Saturday as the front moves through the region. Highs will be in the low 90s. Winds will be out of the northwest in the morning and turn out of the northeast in the afternoon. Wind should stay between 5-10 mph.
Rain chances currently look highest before lunchtime on Sunday with slightly drier air moving in behind the front Sunday afternoon. Highs are expected to be a little cooler in the upper 80s.
Our usual summer pattern looks to return early next week with highs in the 90s and pop up storms in the afternoon.
