Find your fun at the Funhouse in downtown Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - If you’re looking for a cool gift, a place to hangout, or if you want to learn something new, there’s a new business downtown that’s got it all. The concept is to create a hub for the creative community to gather, collaborate, and exchange ideas.
“Fun means life, fun means all the good things so we wanted to create kind of just a name that encompassed whatever we wanted to create in Funhouse,” said Leela Hoehn, co-owner of Funhouse.
Outside Funhouse may look like your ordinary retail shop but really, it’s much more.
“We’re trying to create a space where you can come and work, or you can come and work on your craft, or pop in every now and then to take a workshop, maybe some people are just interested in that. We are trying to create more of a dynamic space and not just a retail store,” she said.
You can find a variety of things designed from artists all over the world. Leela says she wants Funhouse to be a welcoming place for everyone.
“They can enjoy being out and learning about other artists and other movements and things they have never heard about before. Anything fringe culture related we are very interested in having a place for people to come in and talk about those things,” she said.
They are working on planning some creative workshops people can take as well as hosting live music events, but Leela says the plans for the space are endless.
“Really it’s about pinpointing the ideas down, seeing who is available, but I have a feeling from what we heard people are just ready to do things, get involved, and ready for life to be happening again,” she said.
She hopes everyone can find a little fun in Funhouse.
Funhouse is downtown on Jones Street right on the corner of it and 13th Street. For more information about the business and upcoming events, visit their website Funhouse. And check out their Facebook page at @funhousespace and Instagram at @funhouse_space.
