AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Aiken County Public Schools has canceled its mask mandate after Gov. Henry McMaster issued an executive order that parents should be able to opt out of having their kids wear masks.

The district said Wednesday that its administration had determined that effective immediately, masks will be optional for faculty, staff and students in school buildings.

Federal orders continue to require that masks be worn by students and drivers on school buses.

As part of its goal is to continue normal operations without further disruption instruction, the district will not collect opt-out forms from parents.

The district already had made masks optional outdoors.
