AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A shooting claimed the life of a 26-year-old man early Wednesday in Augusta’s first homicide of the year.

The shooting happened at 950 Stevens Creek Road, the Rocky Creek Apartments.

The victim, identified as 26-year-old Khalid Ravenell, was shot at least one time and was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:30 a.m., according to Coroner Mark Bowen.

The body will be transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation lab for an autopsy.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were able to link Shakeyla Faulks, 27, of Augusta, and Kentwain Moody, 25, of Hephzibah, to the shooting.

They fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival and they were later found in the 1600 block of Stayman Place, deputies said.

They are charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, deputies said.
