THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The athletic director of Thomson High School has been relieved of duties, according to officials.

The decision was made by the McDuffie County Board of Education during a called meeting last week, Superintendent Dr. Mychele C. Rhodes told News 12 on Monday afternoon.

Rhodes did not provide an explanation of the reasons for the personnel action against Larry Dunn.

Virtual learning this week

Meanwhile, Rhodes also announced Monday that the district has made the decision to begin second-semester classes in a virtual learning format.

The virtual learning period will be from Tuesday until Jan. 15. All face-to-face students will return to school on Jan. 19.

Chromebooks and hotspots were reissued to face-to-face learners in November. These devices can be used to access assignments, which will be posted in Google Classroom. Questions about assignments may be directed to your child’s teacher via email.

Learn-from-home students will continue to receive their instruction and assignments through Google Classroom and are not impacted by this change.
