NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Authorities detained one person after a shooting early today that left a victim with injuries to the neck in Aiken County.

The incident was reported at 4:37 a.m. at 560 Brier Patch Lane in a rural area between North Augusta and Aiken, according to Aiken County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Eric Abdullah.

The patient was taken to a hospital for treatment, and deputies detained one person on the scene, according to Abdullah.

Less than an hour after the shooting, more than five Aiken County Sheriff’s Office patrol cars were parked on the road that’s lined with mobile homes spaced far apart on wooded properties. A couple of neighbors had come out to see what they could see in the foggy darkness.

Gold Cross Emergency Medical Service confirmed that an ambulance reported to a call there.

“Information is limited due to this investigation being in its early stages,” Abdullah told News 12. “As information becomes available, it will be released.”
