Woman hospitalized after tree falls on home, traps her for hours

BURNETTOWN, S.C. -- A bedridden elderly woman has finally been rescued from her home after a tree fell on it during today's storms.

The victim was injured and taken by ambulance to MCG.

The home is on Bath Lake Road in Burnettown.

It took emergency responders several hours to free her. The Forestry service was also called in to assist.

Aiken County Sheriff Michael Hunt was on the scene acting in his capacity as the Clearwater Fire Chief.

Neighbors say the woman was in bad health and confined to her bed.

The Bath Fire Department, Langely Fire Department and the Aiken EMS Management Agency were all on the scene.
