An Air Force Hurricane Hunter plane investigating the low pressure area just north of the northwest Bahamas found a well-defined low-level center of circulation.

Maximum winds are being reported at 35 mph with a minimum central pressure of 1010 mb. The Government of the Bahamas has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for the Grand Bahama Island and the Abaco Islands in the northwest Bahamas.

The depression is expected to strengthen to Tropical Storm Bret as early as Monday morning. The projected path brings the storm north, staying off the east coast.
