SOCASTEE, S.C. (AP) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed that two small tornadoes touched down in Horry County over the weekend.
A team from the weather service office in Wilmington, N.C., visited the Socastee area Sunday morning to look at the evidence from the storms.
No injuries were reported.
Officials said one of the storms that touched down Saturday had winds of up to 60 mph. Reid Hawking with the weather service says a home under construction collapsed and some of the material struck a nearby house, causing some damage.
A second tornado about the same size touched down nearby and did some damage to the roofs and siding of some homes.
