AUGUSTA, Ga. --- Walking outside in the rain can get your feet pretty soaked. You expect it outside, not inside your apartment. But that's the reality for some people in Augusta.

"I"m very upset. I've been a good tenant since October," said Tammy McCladdie. "I don't think it's fun to live here like this with all of this water on the carpet."

LaTesha Waters agrees. "A lot of people are moving out. You can't keep people here," Waters said.

McCladdie and Waters both say they have had enough. They're fed up with the flooding that happens almost every time it rains.

"Right here in this section, you can step on it and can see the water. You can come up on the water here, all over here," said McCladdie as she pointed to sloshing water in the carpet.

Waters showed News 12 more water damage.

"As you can see, [the ceiling is] cracked in the middle, and they said they were going to come out here and fix it about three months ago, and it still hasn't been fixed yet," said Waters.

The two women live in an apartment complex in Augusta. News 12 was not able to get a comment from the property manager. In fact, we were told to leave after talking to the tenants about the problem.

However, while we were there, we did spot a cleaning crew at another apartment. The tenant there told us that maintenance crews were there to clean. Waters and McCladdie now want to know when it will be their turn.

"We still haven't gotten any help right now. We've been vacuuming up the water ourselves," said McCladdie.

"We just need them to come out here and help us a little bit," added Waters.

Even the walls are saturated with water. There are also leaking ceilings.

"This is one of the issues right here, this [wet ceiling] is from the air conditioner above us," said Waters. "They really need to remodel a lot of these apartments, because we're not the only ones having problems."

The women are planning to move soon. Until then they say they'll just have to deal with the headache and pray there's no damage.

Most renters are required to have renters insurance which in most states will cover certain types of flooding damage. The cost depends on if of the area you live in is prone to flooding.
