ATLANTA (AP) -- North Georgia, which had to deal with major flooding a month ago, was warned that flood conditions were possible again on Tuesday with more than an inch of rain predicted.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for 42 north Georgia counties as a large area of rain began moving into the area before dawn.

The flood watch was issued for a period ending at 8 p.m. The rain is expected to be heaviest in the mid-morning and early afternoon.

The Weather Service is calling for 1.5 to 2 inches of rain for north Georgia. Rainfall may exceed 2 inches in north central and northeast Georgia.
