Planning and preparedness go hand in hand. With Severe Weather Awareness Week fast approaching, February 19-23, 2007, United Way 2-1-1 wants you to know you can count on them to be your initial point-of-contact for information about CSRA-wide heating and cooling centers, emergency shelter locations, and general information and referral for transportation and basic needs. Not only does United Way 2-1-1 keep abreast of housing available, they also have people calling to offer rooms in their homes for people who are displaced.
Whenever there is severe weather or a natural or man-made disaster, United Way 2-1-1 serves as part of a national network of agencies helping mobilize volunteers and linking community needs with available resources. Their ability to serve as an overflow site for first responder organization calls relieves those agencies, allowing their staff to concentrate on the most critical issues at hand. United Way 2-1-1 operates 24/7and continues to serve long after the crisis is over, from taking weather damage calls to serving as your trusted information source.
Remember…CALL 2-1-1 and get connected..…get answers!
