Monday is cleanup day for many after Sunday's severe storms swept parts of the News 12 viewing area.

Several public and private schools in Jefferson County, GA were closed as part of the cleanup. Students from some of the schools helped with staff members in removing storm debris.

The Red Cross has set up a shelter at Louisville United Methodist Church.

Jefferson Energy said fewer than 500 customers were without power Monday morning. Crews have been brought in from other areas to help, and they hope to have all power restored by the end of the day.

The Weather Service confirmed several tornadoes in Georgia and South Carolina. Two deaths in Georgia were blamed on the storm. One victim was found in the rubble of a mobile home in Laurens County. An Atlanta-area woman died when a tree fell on her.
