Update: Accident on US 1 bridge over Savannah River
An accident involving multiple cars and a truck closed northbound lanes of the US 1 bridge over the Savannah River. One driver is facing D.U.I. charges.

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- A wrong-way driver sparked a multi-car accident involving a tanker and closed northbound lanes of the US 1 bridge over the Savannah River, Richmond County deputies said Saturday.
The accident happened a little after 9 p.m..
Deputies on the scene tell News 12 a Jeep was driving southbound into Georgia in the northbound lanes of the bridge. The Jeep struck a Honda head on, and another car and a pickup truck also crashed.
A tanker truck then rear ended the pickup.
Deputies said the driver of the Jeep will face D.U.I. charges.
Another driver suffered head and neck injuries, but people in the other vehicles only had minor injuries.
