BELVEDERE, S.C. --- South Carolina Highway Patrol tells News 12 that ice on the road caused an accident on the 800 block of Belvedere-Clearwater Road this morning.

It happened around 7:45 am. Officers tell us that Walter Smith was driving a tractor trailer going east on Hwy 126 when Luis Sanchez-Curiel, who was driving a 1996 Chevy Camaro, hit a patch of ice, lost control, and hit the tractor trailer.

Sanchez-Curiel was charged with driving too fast for those conditions.

Both drivers and two passengers in the car were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. We're told that everyone was wearing seat belts.
