AIKEN, S.C.---Picking up the pieces from the latest fatality in Aiken County, Diana Bouton knew when she saw the car, there couldn't be survivors.

"The passenger side of the car was completely wrapped around a tree and it was obvious that it had been fatal, " said Diana Bouton, general manager of Southlawn Cemetery.

David Cummings was driving a Crown Victoria with passengers Angela and Margaret Manley when they ran off the road. The entire passenger side of the car is crushed in; the airbag now sits on the outside of the car and shoes belonging to one of the victims remain inside.

This accident is one of four in the past five days. The first happened on Gilcrest in North Augusta; the second on Monetta Street in Aiken; the third, a hit and run in Beech Island. The latest was at the Southlawn Cemetery on Whiskey Road in Aiken.

"We were doing very well until the last five days--we were behind our numbers last year and its going to be a cooperative effort between us and law enforcement to address the needs of this county, " said Tim Carlton, Aiken County Coroner.

Now two more crosses are added to an Aiken County road, and one more family is left to grieve.

"Everytime we pass one of those crosses it brings back memories of the families that we've had to deal with and the individuals that were killed in those crashes, " said Tim Carlton.

Crashes that leave people like Diana, picking up the pieces.

"It was sad...it was just very sad," said Diana.

The Aiken County Coroner's Office said of the five who died, none of them were wearing seatbelts. They're asking everyone to buckle up and be more surroundings on the road.
