The Bowtie Experience - 2015 Men's Conference

Paine College Candler Memorial Library
First attendant to Mr. Paine College, Kenney Smith, will host the Bowtie Experience, 2015 Men’s Conference on Tuesday, October 13th at 7:30pm in the Candler Memorial Library on the Paine College campus. Conference topics include: fatherhood, financial stability, and more. Admission is FREE OF CHARGE TO THE PUBLIC. The American Nuclear Society Savannah River (ANS SR) section will have its first monthly meeting of the 2015-2016 year on Thursday, October 8, 2015, featuring guest speaker, Mr. David Del Vecchio, President and Project Manager, CB&I AREVA MOX Services. Meeting details are shown below.

DATE/TIME: Thursday, October 8, 2015, with registration beginning at 6:00 PM with Section announcements and the technical presentation immediately following the conclusion of dinner.

COST: $29.00 per person ($25 per person for CSRA Educators and Students) - Fees are payable at the registration table (cash, check, or credit card).
MENU: Newberry Hall Catering Grilled Chicken Newberry, Seasonal Mixed vegetables, Orzo Pilaf or Couscous, Mixed greens salad, served with honey vinaigrette dressing, and Dinner rolls and butter. Iced Tea and coffee (Cash bar available).

SPEAKER: PRESENTATION: "MOX Project" update will be presented.

GUEST SPEAKER: David Del Vecchio is president and project manager for CB&I AREVA MOX Services, LLC, a multi-billion dollar project for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration to design, build and operate a facility to convert surplus weapon-grade plutonium into reactor fuel for use in commercial nuclear power plants. Mr. Del Vecchio joined the MOX project in August 2011, bringing 27 years of management experience with large-scale nuclear projects.

Prior to MOX Services, he was vice president and project manager of the Plutonium Finishing Plant decommissioning and demolition project at the Hanford Site in Richland, Washington. His leadership in the $650 million project was to direct the deactivation, decontamination, decommissioning and demolition of 232 highly contaminated glove-boxes, miles of process piping and duct as well as 60 buildings that included radioactive and hazardous materials.

From 1999 to 2009, Mr. Del Vecchio was vice president and project manager of multiple facility decommissioning and demolition projects directing the safe and accelerated closure of the 100K Area Closure Project at the Hanford Site in Richland, Washington, the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Portsmouth, Ohio, and Buildings 371, 707, 776, and 777 at the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site in Golden, Colorado, part of a $7 billion project involving more than 6,500 personnel.

Prior to 1999, Mr. Del Vecchio managed Nuclear Operations at multiple facilities at Rocky Flats, as well as HB-Line and H-Canyon at the Savannah River Site. He also held positions in supervision and as an engineer across the Savannah River Site during this time.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, and a master™s in business administration from Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia. He is also a certified Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute.
