"Spring Fever," featuring Karen Gordon and the Garden City Jazz

Augusta, GA – Dance Augusta, Inc., is pleased to announce the upcoming performance of Spring Fever featuring Karen Gordon and Garden City Jazz! Presented at the studio home of Dance Augusta, the Augusta Ballet School at 2941 Walton Way, the evening begins with a charming, playful work by choreographer Valerie Grieg and music from Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto. Another featured piece will be Augusta native, Caitlin McCormack’s premiere of a new work choreographed on Dance Augusta using the haunting piano/violin music of Angele Dubeau & La Pieta. In addition, acclaimed choreographer, Peter Powlus will collaborate with Karen Gordon and Garden City Jazz in a delightful premiere “Fever”, to the music of Thelonius Monk and Otis Blackwell/Eddie Cooley.
Interspersed throughout the evening, Karen Gordon and her jazz ensemble will play rousing sets designed to make the audience want to get up and move. The Augusta Ballet School studio will be turned into an amazing black box theatre and will highlight artwork by Rosalind Avrett. Heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer served in an outdoor tent will showcase the culinary talents of Sheehan’s Irish Pub. Thomas Gardner of Reed Cakes will serve a delightful assortment of cakes.
Tickets may be purchased at or at the door ($50 per ticket includes food and beverage). Seating is limited! Performances are April 29 and 30 at 2941 Walton Way (Augusta Ballet School). Parking is available at the ballet school or next-door at Insurance Services of Augusta. Doors open at 6pm, performance at 7pm.
The mission of Dance Augusta is to provide professional quality dance performances for the community, encouraging and enhancing a greater public awareness and appreciation for dance as an art form. The company formed in 2006 by Ron and Zanne Colton, Bon Ellis, and a host of local volunteers. Dance Augusta is the official company of Augusta Ballet School. Together, Dance Augusta and Augusta Ballet School produce the CSRA’s most treasured holiday tradition, The Nutcracker, each year at the Imperial Theatre.
