Storytime in the Gardens

Hopelands Gardens
Join us this fall as local senior adults read aloud
stories from children’s books. Each family in attendance receives a free book to take home. Bring a blanket or chair
for sitting. Drinks and snacks are welcomed.
Age: 8 and under (accompanied by an adult)
Cost: Free
Tuesdays, September and October, 4:00 p.m.
Hopelands Gardens (Sand Patio near the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame). In the case of inclement weather, Storytime will be moved to the Weeks Center.

Kids Marathon

Weeks Center Track
This 2-month running program offers elementary-aged children a chance to be a real marathon runner. Those participating will track their miles on a log sheet. Each participant will run 1 mile per day up to 5 miles per week, totaling 25 miles over two months. A grand finale “Fun Run” will be held at the Weeks Center Track and will be 1.2 miles completing the 26.2 mile marathon. Kids will receive a t-shirt, race number, and finishers medal just like a real marathoner.
Please pre-register for this event so you can receive your log sheet and other important information!
Registration: Monday, August 3rd – Wednesday, September 30
Age: Kindergarten - 5th grade
Cost: $5 per person
Fun Run: Saturday, November 7, 9:00 a.m.

Goodwill Pony Parade

Whitney Field
Children ages 5-12 are invited to make a stick pony using items from Goodwill. Ponies will race during half-time on opening day of fall polo season at Historic Whitney Field! Registration is just $15 and includes a mop for the pony. Register and purchase supplies to make your stick pony at Aiken’s Goodwill, 1015 Pine Log Rd or The Willcox, 100 Colleton Ave SW. Ribbons will be awarded for the fastest pony and the most creative pony. Visit pinterest @GoodwillWorks for ideas.
