Silent Movie Night
Sacred Heart Cultural Center
Sacred Heart presents its 11th annual Silent Movie Night with Ron Carter again working his magic at the organ.
The 1920s was the decade of the female and her new freedom. Nowhere was this truer than in the movies. And Clara Bow was free to flaunt it. Clara embodied the new American working girl – saucy and independent – and she had “It.” Declared the “It Girl” by novelist Elinor Glyn, Clara took to her new role with a naturalness that inspired girls everywhere to bob their hair and roll their stockings! Clara shines in the 1927 film simply entitled IT where she works hard, plays hard and picks out her man. She was a tough cookie with a tender heart who charmed a generation with that mysterious quality – IT.
