The University of Georgia Extension and Columbia County Community Connections are proud to present “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” (a curriculum developed by Legacy Caregivers Services) a 5 class educational program that is designed to teach caregivers how to take better care of themselves as they care for others. Each of the 1-1/2 hour classes will focus on different aspects for a family member to help reduce personal stress, communicate more effectively with other family members and healthcare providers. Also, it will deal with the guilt, loss and feelings of isolation to make difficult decisions including living arrangements, driving issues and finances. Each Caregiver will receive a copy of The Caregiver Helpbook and other information developed specifically for this class. Take the first step to help yourself! The cost is $50.

The Veggie Truck Farmers Market invites the people of the Harrisburg community and the whole of the CSRA to be a part of its 2014 season. Now in its second year, the nonprofit market has relocated to the spacious grounds across from the Kroc Center, located at 1833 Broad St. The free market runs from 4:30 to 7 pm every Tuesday from March 25th through October 28th, rain or shine. It features a cooking class, children’s activities, and, of course, locally-grown, farm-fresh produce, honey, eggs, baked goods, nuts and meats. Cash and credit are accepted. Plus, the Veggie Truck Farmers Market is the only area farmers market that doubles SNAP/EBT dollars.
