Hitchcock Woods Field Trip

Tea Cottage Gate off of Dibble Road / Aiken, SC
Dr. Harry Shealy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hitchcock Woods Foundatipn and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Biology at USCA and Dr. Walt Kubilius, Environmental Geologist at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, will lead a tour of Hitchcock Woods. Learn about the history and geology of Hitchcock Woods and become familiar with this Aiken gem. Great for those new to the Aiken area and those who have lived here for a while. Meet at the Tea Cottage Gate off of Dibble Road at 9:00 AM. Wear comfortable walking clothes. Relatively easy walking. limited to 25 participants. Rain date Saturday, October 18.

Women Build Kitchen Tour

Aiken, SC
This year's tour will include 8 houses in Aiken's Historic Downtown area (all 8 different from last year's tour), and ticket holders will have the opportunity to see the design and decor of a variety of the kitchen and dining areas. In each kitchen, local caterers will offer delectable samples of favorite dishes, and the tour will also showcase the work of local florists and tabletop decorators/stores.

Advance tickets will be $25 and will be available online or at several local businesses as the date approaches.

All proceeds will be used toward materials for the 9th Women Build house which is scheduled to begin in March of 2015. Please come out for an enjoyable afternoon and support our Women Build team!

Beyond the Gravestone: Hammond Cemetery Tour

Tour the historic Hammond Cemetery (Beech Island Cemetery) in Beech Island, SC. The program will begin at Redcliffe Plantation's historic mansion to learn about the death of SC Governor James Henry Hammond and will then follow the route of his mourners to the family cemetery. In honor of the 150th anniversary of the death of SC Gov. James Henry Hammond.
Dress for the outdoors - comfortable walking shoes (closed-toed) recommended.
Reservations required.Cost is $8/adult, $5/ages 6-16.

Join Redcliffe Plantation SHS's regularly scheduled 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm house tours and learn more about the SC gubernatorial election of 1842. Learn trivia and history about all of South Carolina's 116 governors. Vote for your favorite 1842 candidate and see if Redcliffe's own James Henry Hammond wins the ballot! $5/Adults, $4/Ages 6-16, $3/SC Seniors Call ahead if interested in the 11 am tour - may be cancelled some days for school programs.
