A multimedia presentation for dance lovers and newbies alike! Visiting artist Dana Tai Soon Burgess will conduct a discussion open to the public supplemented with video clips and demonstrations.
Dana will address the topic of Diversity in Dance by sharing his life experiences as a Korean-American choreographer, and discussing his body of work in the larger context of dance in today's world.

Augusta Ballet invites you to a luncheon and talk with celebrated, Washington DC-based choreographer and artistic director Dana Tai Soon Burgess.
Dana Tai Soon Burgess, founding artistic director of Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company (DTSBDC), is regarded nationally and internationally for his thoughtful and culturally inspired choreography. Mr. Burgess’ company has toured in more than 200 American cities as well as internationally and finds his inspiration in diverse ethnicity and cultures. He is currently serving as chair of the department of Theatre and Dance at The George Washington University, where he created a new, international dance MFA program in 2011. Mr. Burgess has also served as American Cultural Ambassador for the U.S. State Department for 20 years.
The luncheon and talk will take place on October 15 on the lawn of a Summerville home beginning at 11:30 a.m. Mr. Burgess will discuss Diversity in Dance, a subject of particular interest to him and one that closely aligns with the mission of Augusta Ballet to foster a culture of dance appreciation across diverse audiences in the CSRA.
