AUGUSTA, Ga.---WRDW-TV News 12 has named Meredith Anderson to co-anchor News 12 at 6 O’clock & News 12 at 11. Meredith joined the News 12 newsroom in January 2007 as anchor of News 12 This Morning. Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, living in the Augusta-Aiken area puts Meredith and her husband, News 12 On Your Side reporter, Jeff Anderson, close to family.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to join the News 12 evening anchor team,” said Meredith, “Jeff and I are equally thrilled about calling Augusta home. We’ve put down roots, this is the community where we want to live our lives and raise a family.”

News 12 conducted a nationwide search for an evening anchor to join the team of Richard Rogers, Meteorologist Bob Smith, and Prentice Elliott. “We realized we didn’t have to look far to find the best candidate,” said Estelle Parsley, WRDW-TV News Director. “Not only polished and professional on the news set, but Meredith brings with her a solid journalism background as a reporter. Since joining the News 12 team, Meredith has demonstrated a true interest and involvement in our community. So many viewers have called or written to let us know how impressed they are by Meredith’s enthusiasm and sincerity. She’s a great addition to our evening anchor team.”

Over the next two months Meredith will transition from News 12 This Morning, the Augusta area’s fastest growing morning newscast. “More and more viewers tell us they’ve made the switch to News 12 This Morning to watch Meredith and Meteorologist Tim Strong,” said John Ray, President & General Manager of News12. “The last television ratings show our morning news up in viewers every half hour from 5am – 7am while our competitors have lost viewers. As important as it has been for us to find the right person for our evening anchor team, we are just as committed to finding the right person to succeed Meredith in the mornings.”

Meredith will continue to split her time as anchor of News12 This Morning and News 12 early evening newscasts until News 12 names her successor for News12 This Morning.

i think meredith is wonderful. i do think as a long time viewer of news 12, lynnsey gardner is flying on a low radar. she is someone that is over looked. i do believe she would be perfect for the morning with tim!

Posted by: Sabrina Location: Aiken, SC on Jan 31, 2008 at 07:10 PM
Congratulations Meredith!!! Even though I am happy for you Meredith, I hate to see you leave the morning show. I loved watching you and Tim. You all made quite a team and have "brighten" my mornings quite a few times. I will just have to watch you at 6 & 11 then. Of course, I will continue to watch Tim between 5-7 in the mornings. Meredith, I wish you the best during the evening hours. Always continue to give us that wonderful smile! I will be looking for it!!!

OH NO! My favorite team splitting up? There goes my mornings. Congrads Meredith! You have earned this spot. You are one of the hardest working news anchors around. You jumped right in when Laurie left, working morning, noon, night, weekends, etc. Whatever was asked of you, was done. That is what makes a GREAT Reporter. Don't let the naysayers get to you. What we all LOVE about you anf Tim Strong is your sense of humor. As for Jaye in NA, LEAVE Bob Smith alone. I love Bob and hope he is there another thirty years. Maybe where ever you work should just decide that you are "Too Old" and need to retire. Wait and see if you csn survive 30 years at you job! I am like the little old lady on Twelve on your Side; "I Love You Channel 12 News! ALL of YOU; Richard, Meredith,Tim,Bob, Prentiss, and anyone else I may have left out. Good Luck and God Bless all of you throughout the New Year!

As sorry as I am about the leaving of Meredith in the morning I think she will be fine alongside Richard Rogers at night!! If they can get rid of anyone it will be Bob Smith, I mean he has been there 30 years and I personall ythink he is just too old, he is always coughing and messing up words he just needs to retire!! Personally they need the old members back, Dominique Benn, Laurie Ott, Paul Davis, and Johanne Lochard!!! These new people are never there and if they need someone for mornings the

MERDITH ANDESON, I AM GOING TO REALLY MISS YOU IN THE EARLY MORNINGS. YOU AND TIM STRONG REALLY MADE MY MORNINGS START OUT BRIGHT.I WISH YOU THE BEST. I ENJOYED WATCHING TIM ,AND MERDITH TAYLOR IN THE MORNINGS, THEN I REALLY ENJOYS YOU AND TIM, EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE NOT LEAVING THE NEWS, IT IS JUST SOMETHING ABOUT YOU IN THE MORNINGS WITH TIM. I NEVER SUBMITTED FOR THE I- POD GIVE AWAY, I NEVER SUBMITTED FOR THE UGLY ROMM CONTEST FOR THE $5,000 WORTH OF FREE FURNITURE, I DID'T SUBMITTED FOR MY CHILDREN TO TRY TO WIN A HAY RIDE WITH TIM, MY SON WANTED TO BE A FRIDAY'S FIRST TIME FORCASTER, BUT WE LIVE TO FAR, I NEVER SEND YOU AND TIM A COFFFE MUG, BUT I AM TRULEY A WRDW NEWS12 FAN. I PRAY AND HOPE WHOSOEVER REPLACES YOU, DO THE BEST, AND BE THE BEST HE, OR SHE CAN BE. AND IN YOUR NEW TIME AS A NEWS 12 ANCHOR, BE CAREFUL, BE SAFE, AND I WILL SEE ,AND HEAR YOU THEN. BUT I HOPE THE NEXT PERSON NAME IS NOT MERDITH. EVERBODY WANTS TIM TO REMAIN STRONG, BUT HOW CAN HE, HIS BEST TRADES HIM .

I have gotten quite a few emails asking about my recent "disappearance," so I wanted to respond. I will be switching to my permanent schedule alongside Richard, Bob, and Prentice as soon as News 12 names my replacement for News 12 This Morning. For the last three months, I pulled double-duty, but now, I need to catch up on some sleep. Thank you for all your support and encouragement. It has helped me more often than you will ever know. I am excited about my new opportunity, but I am enjoying the time I have left in the mornings. I have been blessed with an amazing crew that makes coming to work a new adventure every single day. However, I am also looking forward to my new challenge. I am lucky to join an incredible team at night. I'm in a "win-win" situation right now. Again, thanks for the emails and phonecalls. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. News 12 has the best viewers!

My wife and I have been wondering where Meredith Anderson has been since she is the new anchor woman for channel 12? We haven't seen her in a week or so except in the morning.

Posted by: Linda Location: Augusta on Nov 1, 2007 at 11:17 AM
I think it's another mistake making changes in the morning. I thought there would never be another team like Dominique & Jay to wake up to. But, finally after several attempts, you found the chemistry. Meredith & Tim make you want to get up & watch in the mornings. How sad there is no stability for WRDW in the morning...always changing. You finally get used to the anchors & then they leave. I will defintely miss Meredith & it will be a very hard act to follow. Good Luck Meredith, if this is what you want...the mornings just won't be the same without ya!!!

Posted by: Michelle Location: North Augusta, SC on Oct 25, 2007 at 08:33 PM
CONGRATULATIONS Meredith! We are so happy for you. You deserve this, but we sure will miss you, and your being with Tim in the mornings!!

Posted by: Kerri on Oct 25, 2007 at 09:57 AM
Congrats to Meredith! I am happy for you! But sad for myself and my husband, as we get such a kick out of you and Tim and the chaos that ensues every morning!

Posted by: CKB Location: Augusta on Oct 25, 2007 at 07:34 AM
It has been nice, but this announcement will cause this viewer to change stations. Silliness does not constitute professionalism. Richard Rogers and Bob Smith are so very professional- I can not believe channel 12 made this decision.

Posted by: Pepper Rodgers Location: Ga Tech on Oct 24, 2007 at 09:44 PM
Even if the reports are true that she is a UGA graduate that should not be held against her. I have learned over the years that many times circumstances can dictate where a person has to attend school, therefore let's be fair and give her a chance to overcome this burden.

Posted by: DominiqueBennFan Location: North Augusta SC on Oct 24, 2007 at 12:34 AM
Viewers want Dominique Benn back. News 12 should tried to convince her to return to the area. I like Meredith Anderson but she doesn't hold a candle to Dominique. I am still grieving from the lost of leaving News 12, first at five.

Posted by: LouLou Location: Thomson on Oct 23, 2007 at 08:29 PM
Big KUDOS here,She is a delight to watch and is one of the most professional news reporters in Augusta! The others could learn a lot from Meredith Now bring Tim to Evenings/Nights so the winning Morning Team can stay togethere along with Richard Rodgers!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Vicki Location: North Augusta on Oct 23, 2007 at 12:24 PM
I hate to see her move away from the early morning show, but congrats! Well deserved! Hey, can we bring the other Meredith (Taylor) back for the mornings? She and Tim made an awesome team as well!

Posted by: Queen4842 Location: Martinez on Oct 23, 2007 at 09:28 AM
Where I am very happy for her, I really think it will dump the morning show. I watch in the mornings to see how she and Tim will interact with each other. She is a fantastic straight man to his antics and will be missed. Same reason I used to watch Bridget and Ben, but switched because they brought Liz in and Jay.

Posted by: David Location: Thomson on Oct 22, 2007 at 10:16 PM
Congratulations Meredith on your Co Anchor position. I will miss your personality coupled with Tim in the morning as I wake and get ready for work. I was one of many who changed channels to find a morning program to help me get a jump start for the day, and I found it with WRDW!
