Matt Sanderson joined the WRDW News 12 team in January 2013. Prior to News 12, he worked as the weekend meteorologist at 6News in Lawrence, Kansas. Matt is a graduate of the University of Kansas where he earned a bachelor’s degree in meteorology with a concentration in journalism.

While he attended the University of Kansas, he conducted extensive research in Extratropical Transition then presented his results at SeCAPS in Mobile, Ala. He was a member and Vice President of the American Meteorology Society (KU Chapter).

A native of the Midwest, Matt grew up in Overland Park, Kansas. He has come to love everything the South offers from gorgeous beaches to warm weather. He enjoys running with his two dogs, working out, cooking, traveling, sports and spending time with family and friends.
